Aims
The aim of the LCNAP is to:

  • To reduce our local carbon footprint and waste
  • To create more habitats and corridors for wildlife
  • To facilitate collaborations with local stakeholders
  • To increase our understanding of local species
  • To increase community engagement and communication
  • To work with the parish council to include environmental issues in the decision making process
  • To protect and enhance green spaces across the parish

Each session will start at Warmley Waiting Room. The sessions would be free and open to all, particularly welcome would be children with parent/guardian and young adults.

Session 1 – Date  15th Sept 11am – 1pm

This session will be lead by Nick Hudson of Wildpace.

He will be encouraging everyone to speak about what motivates them and what they love about nature.

Councillor Steve Reade, who is leading the LCNAP, will share with you:

1.Why are we doing this.
2. What do we hope to achieve?
3. Sources of materials to aid the ‘doing’

A representative of Friends of Siston Commons Volunteer Group will then explain:
1. Who are they and what work they complete in the parish.

Following this there will be an opportunity to take a walk around the Warmley Forest Park to show a snapshot of some of the different environments; grassland, pond, woodland, bird boxes.

Session 2 . 29th September 10am til 1pm
This session will commence with a discussion around attendees’ motivation and sharing of what they love about nature, led by Nick Hudson.

Councillor Steve Reade will remind everyone:
Why are we doing this,
What do we hope to achieve,

In this session – the aim is to engage residents in what they can do as individuals towards the aims of the LCNAP and find our your interest in any projects, highlighting the opportunity for people with similar interests to join together.

Nick will explain about support models available – for example in Climate Change.

Attendees will be asked if they can think of any additional ideas to add to the existing LCNAP.

A walk around the Warmley Forest Park to show a snapshot of some of the different environments; grassland, pond, woodland, bird boxes will then follow.

Session 3 13th October, 10am til 1pm
An opportunity to meet and share ideas will take place again at the start of the session, led by Nick Hudson.

Councillor Reade will then bring to life how residents can bring the LCNAP to life, with an opportunity for you to engage and understand how you can participate and you’re your ideas forward. Highlighting any barriers.

A walk around the Warmley Forest Park to show a snapshot of some of the different environments; grassland, pond, woodland, bird boxes will then take place.

The overall aim of these sessions is about moving towards bringing the human world and nature closer together for the benefit of both, to activate pro-nature behaviours, compassion and empathy for and with nature and each other. In other words, to encourage compassionate relationships with and in life.
